BNP Paribas Group was created in 2000 through a merger between Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP)and Paribas and has been achieving successful growth in Japan as a leading foreign financial institution. BNP Paribas' history in Japan dates back as far as 1867 when Comptoir National d'Escompte de Paris, the former BNP, opened a branch office in Yokohama. Later in 1907, Paribas participated in the Government of Japan's bond issue in Europe. With the solid base of operations both groups have fostered throughout this long history, there are currently more than 800 specialists in the BNP Paribas Group companies offering various financial services in Japan.
Based upon the Group's wealth of financial resources and high credit rating (AA+ from S&P and Aa1 from Moody's ), we provide innovative and high quality financial services to meet the needs of Japanese customers through our core business operations of corporate and investment banking in Japan. BNP Paribas is expanding its lines of business from wholesale to retail through its affiliated asset management, and life and non-life insurance companies.
